| Hi, folks!I hope this email finds you and you’re not trapped in a Bazooka Bubble Gum Factory, which I’ve heard is a real thing that happens. This is last minute, but today, July 17 @ 7pm I’ll be at Skylight Books in Silverlake, talking with the excellent Paul Tremblay about his new novel, DEAD BUT DREAMING OF ELECTRIC SHEEP. Paul was one of the early writers to blow the whistle on AI’s attempt to break copyright, and I’m eager to get into it with him. The novel is both comic and heartfelt, about what we lose when we surrender to the things we perceive as inevitable. Trad Wife! It’s out in the UK and its territories and, as of this morning, is also being published in Ukraine, Taiwan, Germany, and France. How fun is that? Some fun news– the first 25 people to pre order Trad Wife (US) from Village Well Books get a free copy of Pam Kowolski is a Monster! I’ll personalize both. Trad Wife is getting love from the Financial Times, Stylist UK, and lots of early readers. Pam K is a novella that’s been out for about a year, and is wild and fun and a very quick read that I’m proud of having written. Also, the cover is killer. I’m sure by now you’ve heard this — pre orders signal demand to publishers and booksellers. So my ask is — if you actually think Trad Wife is for you, then please do pre order it, and tell your friends, and hey, get a few copies for your friends. Another great (and free) way to support writers is to request copies of their books from libraries. But enough of the hard sell! Little known fact — my hometown library does not carry my work. Who knew giving a fictional town a real name would make people mad? |

| Tour News! August 20-23, Cal State, Fullerton — I’m delighted to be a guest at the Philip K Dick Festival. I love PKD’s work and am excited to talk about it. This festival will also launch Pink Beam Press, which is reprinting my novella Prettiest Mask under the title Bloody 13. September 26, Roundhead Brewing, Boston, MA– I’ll be at the Spooktastic Book Festival, and copies of US Trad Wife will be available AT LAST!!!! Get your tickets here! Looks like a great event. I’ll be doing an event in LA — I just haven’t figured out to logistics! More to come. That’s the news over here. I went to see Odyssey last night in 70mm. It was spectacular. Books: late to the party, but Yellowface by R. F. Kuang was great. I’m enjoying Anne Patchet’s Whistler. I got through half of Bolano’s 2666, and it’s compelling butt woooordy. My colleague Daniel Krauss’s novel Angel Down won the Pulitzer this year, and it’s a fantastic book. I re-read The Only Good Indians by Stephen Graham Jones and found I loved it. |
